If you have an AEA DSP-2232 and you are active on the PACSATs,
I would like to hear from you!
I've worked terrestrial packet for some time, but I have only recently
given working the PACSATs a try (after much trial and error, I recently
downloaded a file from AO-16 for the first time). I am looking for
insights into optimal use of a 2232 with satellites, especially AEA
upgrades, hardware and software mods, and tips and techniques you found
particularly useful. Also, if there is a 2232 UG/mailing list/forum,
I'd like to know how to join/subscribe.
I seldom get onto UseNet, but if you have the time and inclination
for direct email, you can reach me at:

HI,
I am interested in the possibility of decoding the telemetry from weather
satellites. Can anyone help me with this? If so please e-mail.
Best Wishes,
Henry.

Subject: Mir Checkpoint #734
To: ham-space@ucsd.edu
MacSPOC Users-
The enclosed checkpoint reflects tracking of Russia's Mir space station
late Wednesday night CDT. Over the past few days, Mir's orbit has been
changed repeatedly. A Progress resupply vehicle launched last Friday has
made 2 unsuccessful automated docking attempts with Mir, and a third
attempt is to be made under manual control from Mir's crew this Friday.
Under standard Russian docking procedures, the attempt would be initiated
around 8:38 AM CDT Friday.
Fuel reserves aboard Progress are nearly exhausted, although a fourth
attempt may be possible. If a docking is not performed, however, Mir
would have to be abandoned in about 2 weeks before her crew ran out of
food. Without a crew, Mir's fate is unknown. A major reactivation effort
was required after Mir's Salyut-7 predecessor was abandoned in 1985.

This might not be exactly amateur radio, but perhaps there is an avid satellite
tv dx'er out there who can help ...
I am interested in obtaining measured rain attenuation figures for C-band
downlink (4 GHz) signals from communications satellites in the South-East Asian
tropical region. I'm looking to compare typical, real-world attenuation values
with those predicted by the CCIR model.
Can anyone point me to where I may find such information? I would prefer an
Internet source, but printed references would be ok.
Emailed messages to michael@arkas.demon.co.uk would be appreciated.
TIA & 73's
